Hi and welcome to Wren Tutoring. I’m Lauren, and I offer 1-1 English tutoring for ages 11-16 with a specialism for the AQA English Literature and Language exam specification at GCSE.
About Me
Having been a qualified English teacher in secondary Education since 2020, I know that the classroom can have a wonderfully dynamic and creative atmosphere, but sometimes students just need a little bit more.
Whether you are seeking private tuition to build your confidence, to supplement your study of English, or to propel you to exam success, I have 1-1 tutoring sessions available that put you at the heart of your education.
Questions that my students have asked me over the years
Why did you become a teacher?
I decided that I would become an English teacher in 2020 during the Covid-19 pandemic. I’ve always been the type to be proactive and get stuck in, so when lockdown was announced I was determined that I would do my bit.
What is your favourite book?
For a very long time now my favourite book has been One Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel Garcia Marquez - while I don’t believe a booklover’s identity can be built around one book alone, this is the one book that I will come back to every year.
Have you written anything yourself?
Yes, I have. Somewhere in the world is a small selection of short stories and poems that I had published several years ago, but I have always wanted to be a novelist. I’ll do it one of these days, I’m sure of it!
My Services
There is no one way to learn, and thus I aim to be as flexible as possible with the tuition that I offer. I specifically offer English tuition for ages 11 - 16, with a specialism for the AQA English Literature and Language exam specification at GCSE.
1-1 Sessions
With 1-1 sessions (both online and in person), you can expect tuition which is tailored to the individual needs of your young person. This includes revision schedules, specified reading lists, the setting of independent tasks and much more.
Group Sessions
My online group sessions enable a flexible approach to learning with bi-weekly sessions available for both year 10 and year 11. You can look ahead at our group schedules below and contact me in advance to sign up for the sessions that would benefit your young person the most. Each group has a maximum capacity of 6, ensuring higher engagement and quality of learning. You can see below the links to the schedules for September 2025 up until Christmas, and my availability which lists the timings for each group.
